Terps sophomore guard Eric Hayes has decided that he is staying. During a brief interview on Friday, Hayes responded quickly and succinctly when asked if he was staying or going, replying with “Staying.” Since transfer Bobby Maze will no longer be attending Maryland, some pressure on Hayes to transfer has subsided, leaving him to focus on spring workouts, which are coming up in the next week.

Candice Wiggins exploded for her second 40-point game in 4 games this tournament, pouring in 41 points to help defeat the Lady Terps. Wiggins beat the Terps from inside and out, hitting 5 of Stanford's 14 three pointers and taking the Terps seemingly smaller perimeter defenders around the court for an array of shots from everywhere. On paper, the Terps looked like they should have won the game. They had the rebounding advantage 36-29 and shot 54.1% of their shots to Stanford's 50.8%.

The Lady Terps beat Vanderbilt 80-66 last night in a game marked by the Terps' smothering defense. Vanderbilt had a tough time getting their offense going, a far cry from the Terps earlier tournament games in which they let their opponents hang around the game for far too long. That was not the case last night, when the Lady Terps led the entire game and had their lead swell to 21 with 9 minutes left in the second half. Crystal Langhorne fell a rebound short of a double-double, with 28 points and 9 rebounds., including 4 on the offensive end.
