Blown opportunities ruin Mystics chance

WASHINGTON- If the Washington Mystics wanted to advance to the WNBA playoffs this year, they had a crummy way of showing it on their first night back from the Olympic break. The Chicago Sky sunk in their free throws and claimed offensive rebounds down the stretch in their 79-75 victory over the Mystics at the Verizon Center.

The U.S. Men's Basketball team was finally challenged in the 2008 Olympics but beat the Spaniards, led by Laker Pau Gasol, for the Gold medal 118-107. Spain was in the game late, but the boys stepped up and locked it down. The box score shows who Coach K went with in the clutch to win the first Gold medal in eight years for the United States and its twelfth in fifteen Olympic tournaments.
