Northern drops first game in upset at the hands of Mountain Ridge
Northern's 11-game win streak came to the end on Wednesday against Mountain Ridge with a 8-4 loss. The five-run sixth inning that Mountain Ridge put together broke a tie game and propelled Mountain Ridge to the win. Northern gave up 12 hits. Northern falls to 11-1 on the season while Mountain Ridge improves to 7-4 on the season.

Wednesday's games
Pitchers' duel in Atholton/Hammond matchup
Freshman Haylie Goheen pitched Atholton to an eight inning 1-0 win over previously undefeated defending county and 2A state champion Hammond (10-1) on Wednesday. Both pitchers gave up just one hit. The winning run came on a fielder's choice bunt. A pinch runner, Sam Keeter, entered the game at second base and stole 3rd. She came out ahead in a collision at the plate. Goheen walked just one and struck out 14. Her opposite number, Stephanie Speierman, struck out 17 walked two and surrendered one hit.
