Terps sophomore guard Eric Hayes has decided that he is staying. During a brief interview on Friday, Hayes responded quickly and succinctly when asked if he was staying or going, replying with “Staying.” Since transfer Bobby Maze will no longer be attending Maryland, some pressure on Hayes to transfer has subsided, leaving him to focus on spring workouts, which are coming up in the next week.
When asked about his ankle injury this past season, he said he hurt it after the High Point game last season and played on it the rest of the season, causing his performance to suffer as the season wore on. Hayes was well aware of the criticism he took during the ACC season but is looking forward to a strong summer during workouts and says he’ll be ready for the fall.
Greivis Vasquez announced that he's going to stay with the Maryland program for his junior year instead of testing the NBA Draft waters, an athletic department spokesperson said today. Don Markus of the Baltimore Sun originally reported this story.
