Northern drops first game in upset at the hands of Mountain Ridge
Northern's 11-game win streak came to the end on Wednesday against Mountain Ridge with a 8-4 loss. The five-run sixth inning that Mountain Ridge put together broke a tie game and propelled Mountain Ridge to the win. Northern gave up 12 hits. Northern falls to 11-1 on the season while Mountain Ridge improves to 7-4 on the season.
Moorefield triumphs over Tucker County
Moorefield showed while they are ranked high in their 13-0 win over Tucker County on Wednesday. They scored in every inning and ended up with 13 total hits. Trevor Sites and Ethan Reynolds combined for six hits with each going 3-for-4. Josh Stickely pitched a five-inning shutout for for Moorefield. Moorefield improves to 12-3 with the win.
Pendleton dominates Tygarts Valley
Pendleton dominated Tygrats Valley on Wednesday winning two games and allowing just one unearned run. In both games, Pendleton scored in the double digits winning 10-0 and 13-1. In the first game, Brandon Raines allowed just two singles and struck out five. In the second game, Colin Mitchell and David Bowers allowed just hits and combined for 11 strikeouts. The wins improve Pendleton to 14-7 on the season.
North County wins over Meade
No. 5 North County dismissed Meade with little effort winning 8-1 on Wednesday. Meade, who falls to 3-9, scored their lone run in the fifth inning. North County, improves to 10-4, on the strength of Mike Bronakoski's seven strikeout game. Bobby Lance and Dino Stevens each homered for North County.
Loch Raven outdoes Dulaney in pitchers' duel
Loch Raven senior Jordan Heller threw a complete game with six strikeouts while allowing just five hits and four walks. His opposite number, sophomore Tim Gentry, allowed just two hits and two walks with two strikeouts in six innings of work. The win improves Loch Raven to 10-1 while Dulabey falls to 8-5 on the season.
South Carroll triumphs over North Carroll in rivalry game
South Carroll beat North Carroll, 7-3, on Wednesday. South Carroll had the lead first with a first inning run. North Carroll took the lead in the third with a three-run inning. South Carroll retook the lead with a four-run fifth and scored two more in the sixth on their way to the win. All three runs that South Carroll surrendered were unearned runs. South Carroll improves to 5-7 with the win while North Carroll falls to 7-5.
Old Mills wins ninth in a row after edging Northeast
Old Mills beat Northeast by a score of 5-4 to win their ninth straight and improve to 12-3 on the season. Northeast falls to 11-3 on the season. Northeast took an early 3-0 lead in the first inning, but Old Mill had the game tied by the end of the third. They added two more runs in the fourth inning. Northeast got one back in the fifth but ultimately came up short.
Chesapeake slaughters Glen Burnie
Chesapeake used a 16-run second inning to beat Glen Burnie by a score of 23-0 on Wednesday. Glen Burnie falls to 3-12 on the season with Chesapeake improving to 9-4-1. Glen Burnie collected just three hits while making six errors. Chesapeake totaled 21 hits.
Southern beats Annapolis by the smallest of margins
It came down to a fifth inning singe off the leg of the pitcher for the difference in Wednesday's game between Southern and Annapolis. Southern's Ken O'Neill hit the winning ball to put Southern ahead 4-3 in what would be the definitive score. The game gave Southern their third win of the season improving them to 3-8 while Annapolis fell to 4-11.
St. Mary's bests Lutheran in 31 run slugfest
Lutheran scored 13 runs against St. Mary's on Wednesday but it was not enough for a win as St. Mary's scored 18 runs. St. Mary's record improves to 7-8. The game was tied at three after the first inning and Lutheran actually led 8-7 after three innings. But St. Mary's scored nine in the next two frames to put them on top for good.
Broadneck blasts Severna Park
Broadneck beat Severna Park 9-1 on Wednesday on the strength of two two-run homeruns by Senior Michael Marino. Broadneck scored early, three runs in the first, and late, six runs in the final two innings, but not at all in between. With the loss, Broadneck falls to 7-7 while Severna Park improves to 8-5.
AACS pulls away late from Glenelg Country
In what was a relatively close game early on, AACS scored seven runs in the final inning to leave the impression of a less competitive game. The score was tied at one after one but Glenelg Country was unable to generate any offense after the first inning. They had just four hits in the game. Junior Aaron Marshall pitched a complete game and smacked two doubles which were good for four RBI.
Severn breaks tie with Mount Carmel in big way
Severn and Mount Carmel were tied at 4-4 heading into the sixth inning on Wednesday. Then Severn erupted for 10 runs in the final frame to improve their record to 6-6 on the season. Mount Carmel had a 4-1 lead but Severn battled back with runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings before the big sixth inning. Severn amassed a total of 15 hits while Mount Carmel was limited to two hits.
Severna Parks beats South River in matchup with two teams with over .500 records
Serverna Park came out on top of South River by a score of 13-3 in Tuesday's game. South River had the better record at 11-2 (now 11-3) coming into the game but Severna Park bettered them to improve to 9-4. South River took an early 1-0 lead but Severna Park erupted in the third inning scoring four runs, then three runs, then five, before scoring once in the final frame.
Chesapeake edges Annapolis
Chesapeake skated by Annapolis 7-6 on Tuesday. Chesapeake jumped out to a five run lead after the first inning but Annapolis responded with six runs in the third inning. That would be the only runs Annapolis scored and it would not be enough as Chesapeake got two players across the plate in the bottom of the fourth. Annapolis got the tying and go ahead runs on base in the seventh but Dylan Porter stranded them to earn the save. Chesapeake improves to 8-4-1 with the win and Annapolis falls to 4-10.
Old Mill tops Glen Burnie
Matt Wade excelled for Old Mill striking out 16 and giving up just two hits in Old Mill's 7-1 victory over Glen Burnie Tuesday. Old Mill improves to 11-4 with the win while Glen Burnie falls to 3-11. DJ Smith led Old Mill with three RBI. Andrew Habb also had a two-RBI single while Kevin Kean went 3-for-4 with a double.
Harford Christian tops Carroll Christian
Harford Christian starter Eric Quinn pitched a complete-game four-hitter striking out 10 and walking just one in Harford's 8-0 win on Tuesday over Carroll Christian. Harford had a three-run second inning, after scoring one in the first, and never looked back. Carroll made six errors in the game.
