The AstroCubiners are Coming to a Ballpark near You

Over the last 11 years, the Baltimore has supported their minor league baseball team the Orioles, who were a Major League franchise prior to 1998. Since the hiring of Team Executive Andy Macphail, Baltimore is in the Major Leagues once again, and their franchise has been named the AstroCubiners. Their team name’s origin comes from the words Astros, Cubs, and Mariners, the three teams Andy MacPhail USED to create the team.

The AstroCubiners 40 man roster will be comprised of 7 former Astros, Aubrey Huff, Ty Wiggington, Matt Albers, Luke Scott, Greg Zaun, Troy Patton and Dennis Sarfate, 3 former Mariners George Sherrill, Adam Jones, Kam Mickolio, with Chris Tillman on the way, and former Cubs Rich Hill, Felix Pie, Lou Montanez, and Scott Moore. The rest of the team is comprised of former Orioles, headlined by Nick Markakis, Brian Roberts, Jeremy Guthrie, and Jim Johnson. The teams also signed Koji Uehara from Japan, and are awaiting the emergence of top Prospects Matt Wieters, Brian Matusz, and Jake Arietta.

Baltimore is very excited about their new major league team, but has the tough task of competing in the American League East with the Rays, Sox, Yankees and Blue Jays. The organization is in the process of designing a logo, and team representatives have been walking up and down Eastern Avenue looking for ideas for a mascot. The AstroCubiners are ready for flight, and with lots of good young players in the mix, Baltimore hopes their future is sooner than later!
