This year should be all about the "Big three" at the top of the Polls, those being Dunbar, River Hill, and Loyola. Everybody has a different opinion of who is better, and since they don't play each other, we will never know!
In my Opinion, Dunbar is the Best team in the state, and the amount of weapons on their offense is unbelievable. The have a tough game on Saturday vs. Gwynn Park, but the Poets should over match the Jackets.
Loyola has the most sophisticated offense around led by dual threat QB Leon Kinnard. Leon and the receiving corps are always on time, and WR/RB/DB Terrence Garvin is quite the weapon for the Dons. Also look for the emergence of Matt Heacock, Donovan Eaton, and Vince Snarski on both sides of the ball. The Dons are looking for revenge vs. Mt. St. Joe this year, and finally capture the MIAA A crown all to their own.
River Hill has a big three of their own in their backfields. That of course is Michael Campanaro (Wake Forest) and the Central Michigan duo, Leron Eeaddy and Malek Redd. They should breeze through their regular season schedule.
Anne Arundel County will once again showcase some great Quarterbacks. Broadneck's Kyle Colleran and Old Mill's Grant Enders had great Junior Years, and each return some great talent around them. Billy Cosh will look to fill Nick Elko's shoes at Arundel and will have a great weapon in Alec Lemon (Syracuse), but filling the shoes of the states most accomplished Passer (Nick Elko) and Reciever (Brandon Johnson Farrell) will be a tough task.
Hereford, Perry Hall and Eastern Tech will once again Headline Baltimore County. Hereford lost a lot to graduation, but they made a tremendous jump to 3a last year, and should continue that momentum and continue reloading. Perry Hall will feature the county's most outstanding player in WR/TE/LB/DB Dave Stinbaugh; he is worth the price of admission. Eastern Tech returns a solid core after their heartbreaking loss in the 2A Championship, but will be without heart and soul, Travis Crane!
Baltimore City will continue to emerge this year and will obviously be led by the Poets. Roger Wrenn returns a lot of weapons at Poly, and the team has shown dramatic improvement in each of his two years on Cold Spring; expect the same this year. Edmondson will look to return to their 2006 form, and Senior Carroll Washington will move from QB to Reciever. The Red Storm returns a lot of Starters, and will hope to catch up with the Poets and Engineers. Also look out for City, Digital Harbor, Mervo, and Northwestern!
