The Baltimore Sun is Reporting that Ravens 6th Year QB and former first Round Pick Kyle Boller will be placed on Injured Reserve. Kyle has been suffering from a partially torn labrum suffered from a big hit in the Minnesota Vikings game. The team has signed 36 year old Todd Bouman to be the Backup while Troy Smith recovers from his bought with a tonsil infection.
Kyle Boller is an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season, so the Kyle Boller era of Baltimore Football is probably over. The writing is on the wall for the Joe Flacco era to begin. Joe already appears to have a better arm, better footwork, and more leadership skills than Kyle Boller. He also appears to be Mr. Cool, I didn't want to say "Joe Cool"! Joe does not seem intimidated by the NFL and their defenses, and there is an absence of that deer in the headlight's look.
Playing Quarterback is a lot like hitting in baseball, it is easier to do with a clear head; relying on your muscle memory and quick reactionary skills. Like baseball there is a lot of studying involved, but the ability to learn quickly and master the fundamentals will allow defenses to slow down, and I think Joe possesses these skills, at least compared to Kyle.
