A look at the Monday's Crab Bowl

The Maryland Crab Bowl will enter it's sophomore season Monday at Johnny Unitas Stadium at Towson University at 7pm. The game features the best players in the state from the DC and Baltimore Area's grinding it out for Area Bragging Rights. The inaugural contest was won by DC 32-21.

Bill Waibel of Joppatowne Named Ravens High School Coach of the Week
Bill Waibel, head coach of the Joppatowne (Joppa, Md.) varsity football team, has been named Ravens High School Coach of the Week for the 10th and final week of the 2009 season. Presented by Toyota, this is the 13th year of the Ravens’ award program.
The Mariners defeated Bohemia Manor 49-30 on Friday (11/13), pushing through the first round of the playoffs. Joppatowne (11-0) is one of only four unbeaten teams left in the Baltimore area. The Eagles exited the playoffs with a 7-4 record.

Maryland and Duke are certainly two programs going in opposite directions this year, and Duke improved to 4-3 on the season and 2-1 in the ACC with a 17-13 victory over Maryland, who drops to 2-6 and 1-3 in the ACC.

Defense the difference as Morgan State holds off Howard

The Morgan State Bears came into Hughes Stadium playing the last of a two game, five day stint. The Bears already dodged many bullets against North Carolina A&T in their homecoming victory. Last night in front of an ESPNU audience, Morgan State put its defense on display for the country as the Bears knocked off Howard 14-7 for their second win in five days.

InsideMDSports.com is reporting that the Maryland Terrapin have offered Gilman Junior Athlete Darius Jennings. Maryland is Jennings first offer, with many more to come. MDVarsity is also reporting that Darius has an Iowa offer as well.

Morgan State defense knocks out Tigers

The Morgan State Bears showed their defensive might in a rain soaked 12-9 win over Towson at Hughes Stadium on Saturday night. This ended a six year losing streak to their only other FCS team in Maryland.
Morgan State head coach Donald Hill-Eley was happy with the play of his defense while at the same time, he expected it as well. But with the rain, the ball became slippery and both teams made plenty of mistakes. The Bears offense continued to struggle. But as the theme goes, they found a way to get it done when they needed to.
