In a highly intense Baltimore County matchup the Millers of Milford Mill used some clutch defense to thwart a late rally by the Parkville Knights and remain unbeaten in County play. After trailing by 7 with less than a minute to play the Knights got a three pointer from Denzel Walker to cut the lead to 66-62 and the Millers Isaiah McCray was at the foul line awaiting two shots. McCray missed both shots and Walker, who already had 8 points in the quarter, had the ball in his hands.

Still trying to get over all the unbelievable action from last night's games, easily the best night of local hoops I've seen in a long, long time. In today's action I was only able to catch the last 4 games so that's all you're going to get here. Here goes!

Douglass 54 Lansdowne 44

Lansdowne led pretty much the whole game until they hit a 7 minute scoreless streak to start the 4th quarter and Douglass scored more points in the 4th quarter(23) than they did in the entire 1st half(14), in their 10 point victory.

Unfortunately I was not able to attend day 1 at the 14th Annual Basketball Academy played at Morgan State where Mervo defeated Randallstown, Dunbar beat Woodlawn and parkville edged Douglass, but I was lucky enough to be there for day 2, and thank god for that! Here is a recap of todays games at Morgan.

On Monday Night, the 2nd Annual Crab Bowl took place on a frosty cold night at Towson University's Johnny Unitas Stadium. Once again it was a great display of the best football players in the state of Maryland, with the squad from DC holding to a 24-21 victory over Baltimore, taking a 2-0 series lead. After watching the game and evaluating the tape, I am going to take a look at some of the players that turned in impressive performances.

Earlier in the week MIAA and BCL powerhouse Calvert hall went on the road to face one of the counties top public scool programs, Milford Mill, and were given all they could handle before pulling out a late victory. This evening, another top tier MIAA and BCL program, St. Frances, also traveled to a Baltimore County favorite, Parkville. The Panthers of St. Frances got off to a tremendous start and seemed to be in control of the game before a furious 4th quarter comeback by Parkville left the Knights just short.

The Cardinals of Calvert Call College came up with just enough key plays down the stretch to hold off a feisty crew from Milford Mill, 65-56, in front of a packed house at the Millers home gymnasium. Holding on to a slim 1 point lead with 1:27 to play Damion Lee came up with a clutch rebound off a missed shot from the Cards Michael Wade and then assissted nicely to Donya Jackson to up the Cardinal lead to 3. On the Millers following possession the Cards Jonathan Graham got a huge blocked shot and nice outlet pass, which led to a layup for Wade, and the Cards could breathe a sigh of relief.

Week 1 Games to Watch

The Heavyweight Battle:

Arundel at Old Mill, Friday 630 PM

This very well could be one of the best games of the year, and the most important Anne Arundel and 4A East matchup of the Year. Arundel, led by Quarterback Billy Cosh, features the best passing attack in the state, and Old Mill has the most high powered backfield led by Josh Furman and Jason Clements. Last year Old Mill won the regular season matchup 34-19, but Arundel came away with the 4A East title.
