Kevin Lynch: The Crab Bowl Film Analysis
- Posted by Kevin Lynch on December 23rd, 2009
On Monday Night, the 2nd Annual Crab Bowl took place on a frosty cold night at Towson University's Johnny Unitas Stadium. Once again it was a great display of the best football players in the state of Maryland, with the squad from DC holding to a 24-21 victory over Baltimore, taking a 2-0 series lead. After watching the game and evaluating the tape, I am going to take a look at some of the players that turned in impressive performances.

Defense, big plays help D.C hold on to victory over Baltimore

All the talk coming into the 2nd annual Maryland Crab Bowl, featuring all stars from the Baltimore area against ones from the Washington D.C. area, was about the stellar quarterbacks being show cased in this years event, especially Arundels Billy Cosh. Someone forgot to tell the guys on the defensive side of the ball as both teams got spectacular play on that side of the ball, unfortunately for the Baltimore side D.C's came up with the bigger plays.

Linganore completes perfect season, captures 5th state title
- Posted by Ed Fitzsimmons on December 6th, 2009
The tone of the class 3A state championship game between the 13-0 Linganore Lancers and the 13-0 Huntingtown Hurricanes was set on the opening drive by the Lancers defense and the Hurricanes coaching staff. On it's first play from scrimmage Huntingtown's Greg Goodwin, the states leading rusher with 2,559 yards coming in, was hit for a 9 yard loss by the Lancers stout defense. After a false start penalty left the Hurricanes with a 3rd and 22 at their own 9 yard line head coach Jerry Franks figured it would be better off to just punt.
Burkhardt, defense end Eastern Tech's championship game shortcomings
- Posted by Ed Fitzsimmons on December 5th, 2009
For the last two years Eastern Tech had left the field at M&T Bank Stadium on the losing end of the scoreboard. The saying goes "the third times the charm" and the Mavericks can attest to that as this year they left the field on the right side of the scoreboard.
The Mavericks defense held the high powered offense of the Queen Anne's Lions in check and quarterback Zach Burkhardt made the biggest play of the game as Eastern Tech won it's first ever state title, winning the 2A conference title game 16-8.
Fast start propels Catoctin to first ever 1A state title
- Posted by Ed Fitzsimmons on December 5th, 2009
The Catoctin Cougars, who were making their first ever appearance in a state title game, wasted little time getting the edge on their class 1A opponent the Joppatowne Mariners. The Cougars took advantage of some early Joppatowne miscues to jump out to an 18-0 lead just 6 minutes and 19 seconds into the game, and never looked back in their 37-12 victory.
Old Mill takes the 4A title
- Posted by Kevin Lynch on December 4th, 2009
For the first time since 1994, Anne Arundel County has won a Football State Championship. Old Mill tops Henry Wise 17-16 and wins the school's first ever State Title. Old Mill running back Josh Furman suffered a 1st quarter knee injury, but Jason Clements carried to load for the Patriots. Clements rushed for 176 yards and a TD. Brad Cummings hit a 4th quarter FG to put the Old Mill Patriots up 17-16, and the lead would hold.

College Athletics Recruiting: Developing a Personal Inventory
By Tom Kovic
The college recruiting process has not only developed into a highly competitive arena, it has become an intricate process that requires good planning, the development of an accurate information base and the willingness to take a proactive approach in carefully executing the recruiting plan.
Each prospect is unique in their goals, timing and student-athlete abilities, but there is one common thread that should run through every well planned college search: The development of a personal recruiting inventory.

After kicking but in the qt finals a few weeks ago and going 7-2 while predicting GC's win over Dematha, AO stunk it up real bad last week in the semi finals going 2-7. It time for redemption........
CATOCTIN 20 JOPPATOWNE 13
I have been wrong about Joppatown throughout the playoffs and I'm tempted to pick them over the cougards. However, the Cougars have proven that they possess the Defense to run with the big dogs. Plus, they knocked off the champs...you have to give them their props.
