The Lady Terps beat Vanderbilt 80-66 last night in a game marked by the Terps' smothering defense. Vanderbilt had a tough time getting their offense going, a far cry from the Terps earlier tournament games in which they let their opponents hang around the game for far too long. That was not the case last night, when the Lady Terps led the entire game and had their lead swell to 21 with 9 minutes left in the second half. Crystal Langhorne fell a rebound short of a double-double, with 28 points and 9 rebounds., including 4 on the offensive end. Langhorne dominated the paint, and helped contribute to a 37-34 advantage on the boards. Marissa Coleman had 19 points on an efficient 7-14 from the field. She is quietly becoming one of the most versatile players in women's college basketball, which has to be a relief to Brenda Frese. The team will lose significant portions of their scoring next year with the departure of Langhorne and her frontcourt mate Laura Harper. The Lady Terps play Stanford Monday night at 9:30 for the right to advance to the Final Four. The Terps will be trying to get to their second Final Four in three years.
